Research
Alan Vardy’s academic research is undertaken through the University of Dundee. Most is focussed either on increasing understanding of detailed fluid phenomena or on improving methods of analysing the phenomena.
Applied research is undertaken partly through the university and partly in a private capacity. The research is led by Alan Vardy and involves extensive collaboration with colleages around the world.
These pages give an introduction to some projects that have given particular pleasure, usually because of what has been achieved and always because of the people with whom it has been achieved.
A large section of this website is dedicated to publishing data measured during commissioning of the SBB 2000 railway in Switzerland in 2004. Flow data was measured in a tunnel airshaft and pressure data was measured in the tunnel and in the train
